Datatrac Great Rate Award Certification Mark
Datatrac certifies banking product performance for rates and fees relative to comparable alternatives. Datatrac does not certify financial institutions. Eligible products include auto loans, boat loans, recreational vehicle loans, unsecured loans, home equity loans, mortgages, credit cards, certificates of deposits or share certificates, money markets, savings accounts, checking account or share drafts and many other retail banking products.

Datatrac permits the financial institution with Certified Products as defined in the Agreement (the “Licensee”) and its affiliates and agencies to use the Datatrac Great Rate Award® Certification Mark (the “Certification Mark”)(Figure 1), Datatrac Content and related claims as part of their internet, print, broadcast, advertising and public relations promotions provided that Licensee meets all requirements as specified in the Agreement and this Usage Guidelines.

To ensure that Licensee's usage of Licensed Materials meets the guidelines herein, Licensee is encouraged to submit any use of the Certification Mark or Datatrac Content to Datatrac for approval prior to publishing by submitting a visual representation of the collateral or advertising that will contain the Certification Mark and/or Datatrac Content. Approval requests should be sent to certification@datatrac.net and will receive a response within one business day.

All financial institutions that do not have a valid license Agreement, including representatives thereof, are prohibited from using the Certification Mark or Datatrac Content.

A. Requirements for Use

Licensees that choose to use the Certification Marks or Datatrac Content must comply with the following requirements:
  1. Licensee must have a valid Agreement and be certified for at least one product before using the Certification Mark or publishing Datatrac Content.
  2. Only Certified Products as defined in the Agreement may be identified with the Certification Mark or related claims.
  3. Advertising claims may only be used to promote the Licensee's positive results without denigrating other financial institutions or other third parties.
  4. When referring to the performance of a Certified Product, Licensee must cite competitive data from the Datatrac Marquee (Figure 2) and/or a Datatrac Great Rate Award® Certification Report (the “Certification Report”) from which the Certified Product was certified (Figure 3 and Figure 4). IMPORTANT NOTE: Only Certification Reports clearly marked ‘Certified’ should be used. Certification Reports marked ‘Certification Required’ should not be used to make any claims or statements.
  5. Licensees must use clear and conspicuous disclosure as defined in Section 4 of this Usage Guidelines when Certification Marks or Datatrac Content is used. 
  6. Licensee must not use the Certification Mark or Datatrac Content in any way that implies and endorsement of advertising claims or implies that Datatrac has rated, endorsed or chosen any particular financial institution.

B. Award/Logo Reproduction

The following details the policy for the use of the Datatrac Great Rate Award® ("Award") or Certification Mark. Collateral, advertising or promotion that does not meet the criteria below shall not be granted permission for use in public media. If an advertisement is aired or published that does not conform to the above standards, Datatrac reserves the right to take appropriate legal or administrative action.
  1. Datatrac Great Rate Award TrophyExcept for Certified Merchandise as defined in the Agreement, all use of Awards must or Certification Marks must clearly indicate the following (see Section III herein for examples):
    If the dollar amount saved or earned is quoted, an explanation of how the amount was computed must be included (see Section 4.a herein.)
         a.. The Licensee’s name or logo, and
         b. The Certified Product for which the Award was given, and
         c. The geographic market in which the Award was given, and
         d. The time period for which the Award was given.
  2. The Award must be either an actual photographic representation of the trophy (“Award Trophy”) or the approved Certification Mark as provided by Licensor. Photographic representation of Award Trophy must be vivid with all text readable without magnification.
  3. The Certification Mark must contain a date and be a vivid reproduction of at least one inch in diameter in its final reproduced form with all text within the Award graphics readable without magnification.
  4. Clear and conspicuous disclosures as indicated in Section 4 herein shall accompany all uses of the Award or Certification Mark.

C. Examples of Reproduction and Usage of Datatrac Great Rate Award® Certification Mark

  1. Certification Mark usage must contain a date and be a vivid color or greyscale reproduction of at least one inch in diameter with all text within the Award graphics readable without magnification.

  2. Unless used by Datatrac or in Certified Merchandise purchased from Datatrac or otherwise approved by Datatrac, Certification Mark should not be displayed without a date or without tagline indicated in the bottom of the logo as shown below:

  3. Reproductions that are less than one inch in diameter, not high quality or where text is unreadable without magnification are unacceptable.

D. Examples of Required Disclosures

The data contained in the following disclosures can be found in Datatrac Certification Reports which also serve as backup validation to support an advertising claim. This report can be obtained by any Licensee at by submitting a request to certification@datatrac.net with the Licensee name, product, market and period for which certification is sought.

  1.  Following is an acceptable disclosure example when both the dollar amount saved or earned, and the percentage outperformed are displayed.

E. Publishing Datatrac Content

Publishing Datatrac Content including but not limited to articles, Proof Points™ (e.g. ‘ABC Financial can save you $2,567 on your next home equity loan’ or ‘ABC Financial’s money markets pay you 2x the national average’ or ‘ABC Financial’s credit cards have been lower than the national average for the last eight years.’) or other research and analysis requires that Datatrac be cited as the source as indicated below depending upon the type of reference: 

  1. For Licensee use in charts and posts made on web banners, Facebook, Twitter, blogs and other social media:

F. Datatac API and RSS Feeds.

Datatrac’s Application Program Interface (API) and Really Simple Syndication (RSS) data feeds are optional services provided by Datatrac. Datatrac’s API and RSS are used for custom development and are not required for standard Datatrac deployments.

Data obtained from Datatrac’s API or RSS are Licensed Materials subject to the terms of use as defined herein and in the Datatrac Great Rate Award License Agreement which may be viewed at www.datatrac.net/eula.

Datatrac’s API and RSS feeds utilize common Internet data protocols used for content transfer and syndication, such as XML and JSON formats. The tools for consuming the feed are not provided by Datatrac as myriad commercially available, industry standard tools and methods exist to parse, display and organize the provided data. Deploying the Datatrac API or RSS within your organization should be done with the assistance of your Webmaster or a developer. Instructions for using Datatrac APIs and RSS are available upon request. While Datatrac is available to answer questions regarding the Datatrac API and RSS data feeds, assistance with Web programming, CSS, styling or XML/JSON basics is outside our scope of support.

All requests to Datatrac API and RSS services must leverage a local cache mechanism to prevent one-for-one calls to Datatrac for each page load from your Web site. Cache duration must not exceed 24 hours. Limits on the number of calls in a given time frame may be imposed by Datatrac and those limits may be modified at Datatrac’s sole-discretion. Any such limits shall be defined in the Proposal Acceptance or provided to Licensee with a 30 day notice.

Unless otherwise approved by Datatrac, the use of Licensed Materials originating from the Datatrac API or RSS feed must adhere to the following criteria:

  1. Data obtained from the API or RSS feeds shall be used in accordance with Permitted Uses as defined in the Datatrac Great Rate Award License Agreement (www.datatrac.net/eula.)
  2. Data obtained from the API or RSS feeds must not be stored for a period longer than 48 hours.
  3. The following statements must be clearly and conspicuously placed near where the Licensed Materials are being displayed:
    • ‘Analysis current as of {date}’, where date is the ‘Verified_as_of’ date provided in the data feed.
    • ‘Source: Datatrac’ with a link to http://ww.datatrac.net.
  4. All uses of Licensed Materials shall be submitted to certification@datatrac.net and shall be approved by Datatrac prior to public disclosure.
